Lisbeth concentrates her practice in the areas of Wills, Estates and Trusts litigation and administration; Capacity litigation, and Dependant Support Claims.
Having been litigating since 1988, Lisbeth brings her extensive experience and pragmatic approach to helping her clients resolve their estate, trust and capacity disputes:
Estates and Trusts Litigation – advising and representing those challenging the validity of a will; advising estate trustees and/or the beneficiaries of a will; commencing applications for the interpretation, rectification and variation of wills and trusts ; and assisting dependants of a deceased in making claims for support against an estate.
Capacity Litigation – advising attorneys / guardians for property and care as to their duties and defending challenges to their authority; and assisting individuals in applying for guardianship of adults or minors.
Fiduciary Accounting – defending or commencing applications to Pass Accounts by executors, trustees, guardians and attorneys.
Estate Administration – assisting in estate administration including applications for probate; advising executors on their duties; and assisting with the administration of estates.
Mediation – acting as a Mediator to help parties resolve their disputes in both the Estate litigation and Capacity litigation areas.
Lisbeth has written and presented numerous papers as a lecturer in continuing legal education seminars addressing current issues on the law of Estates, Trusts and Capacity issues. She has lectured through the Ontario Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada and for the Toronto Lawyers’ Association.
Lisbeth has been an adjunct instructor at Queen’s University Law School teaching the Appellant Advocacy Course. She has also been a sessional instructor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law teaching the Transmission of Wealth course.
